SwissHacks 2026: Switzerland’s Government-Backed Fintech Hackathon Kicks Off Swiss Fintech Week

SwissHacks returns for its third edition as the opening event of the inaugural Swiss Fintech Week (19–25 June, Zurich).

Zurich, 17 February 2026 – SwissHacks 2026 runs from 19 to 21 June in Zurich, serving as the flagship opening event of Swiss Fintech Week. Initiated by the State Secretariat for International Finance (SIF) and powered by Tenity, this 48-hour hackathon brings together builders, coders, and technologists from around the world to tackle the most pressing challenges in AI, digital assets, and on-chain finance. Participants range from students to senior professionals, working alongside financial institutions and technology partners to prototype and validate solutions in real-world financial use cases.

This hackathon will serve as a cornerstone event within Swiss Fintech Week, reinforcing Switzerland’s position as a global hub for financial innovation at a time when financial institutions are undergoing profound AI-driven transformation and accelerating the shift toward on-chain finance and tokenized infrastructure

SwissHacks 2026 is a 48-hour immersive experience where diverse talent—ranging from students to seasoned professionals—joins forces with industry-leading organizations to tackle the most pressing challenges in the financial sector with a strengthened emphasis on frontier technologies such as Artificial Intelligence, Digital Assets, programmable money, and scalable on-chain architectures.

This year’s edition further sharpens its focus on developing solutions that are not only innovative but scalable, providing participants with a unique opportunity to experiment, prototype, and validate frontier technologies in real-world financial use cases.

The event marks the official starting point for the inaugural Swiss Fintech Week, a week-long celebration of financial innovation taking place across Zurich. The week brings together the global fintech community for conferences, networking events, workshops, and collaborative sessions, establishing Switzerland as the epicenter of financial technology innovation.

“Financial institutions today are navigating two structural shifts at once – AI is redefining how banks operate, make decisions, and serve clients, while on-chain finance is reshaping the underlying infrastructure of value exchange. SwissHacks 2026 creates a space where these frontier technologies can be explored hands-on. It is about moving from strategy to experimentation – and from experimentation to scalable solutions for the financial center.

—said Brigitta Gyoerfi, Tenity.

The journey for SwissHacks 2026 winners will extend far beyond the hackathon itself. In a unique opportunity that underscores the integration between SwissHacks and Swiss Fintech Week, the winning teams will present their groundbreaking solutions at the Kongresshaus Zurich during the Fintech Makers Night (powered by Tenity) during Swiss Fintech Week – one of the city’s most prestigious venues and the central hub for the week-long celebration of financial innovation.

What winners gain: from Kongresshaus to the Swiss National Bank
